Wheel

Isn't there something really satisfying and beautiful about this?  It is, of course, a wheel on one of the steam locomotives on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

  1. Wonderful composition. Your photography has developed so much in the last couple of years and the new larger blog format shows it off so well.

  4. As you know, I love the old engines; like this shot, it's the kind I would have taken. Also, it's almost monochromatic, so I'll let you off for not using good old b&w film. Nice one.

  5. Another great photo, Jenny! I am definitely going to be trying to track down those steam locomotives next I get to your country. They're beautiful! (and I do realize that the beauty we see in these photographs has a lot to do with the talent of the photographer!)

BTW, we don't have a DSLR either, and I don't know what A4 means, but our raw photos are 2608 x 1952 pixel size and when I printed them out to poster size, they are all crystal clear. Amazing!

  6. Top of the line. I think you went around polishing before the shutter clicked! Curious about your signature. I Imagine you have a sheet of transfers, and you iron one on each photo?

  9. Beautiful!!!
These metal pieces polished to hell with so much love and they continue to work perfectly well after x dozens years... What a precious thing that is! ... and needless to say, I feel all that from your powerful photo.
These almost white sharp vertical metal bars and round dark colour of the wheel together make wonderful dynamic contrast...

  10. Jenny, this is a special composition. Great lines and circles, and silver against black.

  12. Looks as though it's never been used - such dedication from the team of volunteers who are managing this marvellous station and old steam train!
